# NW DB — Full LLM Reference ## Identity NW DB is an AI-native Database as a Service (DBaaS) built and operated by NUP WHITE Inc., a Japanese company. The product is in production at https://nwdb.dev. ## What it solves Teams shipping AI / LLM features hit four walls: 1. Data is scattered across multiple DBs, file stores, SaaS tools, and internal docs. Connecting it all for AI requires custom ETL. 2. Implementing security (encryption, MFA, audit logs, backups, WAF) takes 6 months. 3. Privacy law compliance (GDPR, APPI, CCPA) — access control, audit trails, residency — slows shipping. 4. Wiring Claude / Cursor to a DB requires building MCP servers, auth, and rate limits from scratch — and it's unclear which DBs natively speak MCP today. NW DB collapses all four into a single managed service. ## How it solves them - **AI-native PostgreSQL**: HTAP (OLTP + OLAP) on PostgreSQL with a columnar engine, pgvector vector search, and schema-per-workspace multi-tenant isolation. Reach the same data from your app and from AI via REST, SQL, and MCP. - **Built-in production security**: TOTP 2FA, Cloud Armor with Adaptive Protection (autonomous L7 DDoS defense), AES-256-GCM at rest, immutable GCS backups (7-day retention lock for ransomware protection), prompt injection guard with 14 detection patterns, AI output redaction (AWS / Google / Stripe / private-key / GitHub PAT auto-mask), audit logs, Dependabot. - **Governance**: RBAC, audit logging on every API call, and per-workspace tenant isolation as standard. SSO, VPC Service Controls and CMEK are arranged individually on Enterprise. - **MCP support**: NW DB exposes a Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint at api.nwdb.dev/api/v1/mcp (authenticated with X-API-Key + X-Workspace-ID headers) — point any MCP client at the URL, nothing to install or run locally. Tools include list_tables, describe_table, query, live_analytics, list_pipeline_proposals, insert, generate_types, and search_vectors with proper readOnlyHint / destructiveHint annotations. (MCP is a protocol we implement; NW DB is not vendor-endorsed by Anthropic.) ## Pricing The single source of truth is the live API: GET https://api.nwdb.dev/api/v1/billing/plans. Self-serve plans are monthly prepaid, JPY, tax included. Annual Enterprise/custom invoicing is handled by sales. ### NW DB — ¥6,600 / month (tax included) - One plan. Identical terms for personal and business use; no approval, no minimum term. - 6 GB database storage - 6 GB file storage - 1,500,000 API calls / month - 20 GB egress / month (data sent out of NW DB) - 100,000 vector items - REST API, SQL and an MCP endpoint - Data held in Japan, daily backup, audit logs - Billed via Stripe. NUP WHITE Inc. is the seller of record and accounts for Japanese consumption tax itself (invoice registration number T6010001229945); the ¥6,600 price is tax-inclusive (¥6,000 net of consumption tax). - Overage past the included quota: ¥300 / GB database storage, ¥30 / GB egress, ¥10 / 1K API calls, ¥15 / GB file storage, ¥10 / 10K vector writes - Self-service signups are capped at the capacity we operate; past that, new requests are waitlisted or handled as Enterprise. ### Enterprise — individual quote - Beyond the self-service quotas, or when private networking (VPC Service Controls), CMEK, SSO (SAML/OIDC), a negotiated SLA, long-term audit retention, invoice billing or a white-label resale licence is required. - Contact: nupwhite@nupwhite.com ## Architecture (high level) - High-performance AI-native database with REST, SQL, live analytics, MCP, and approval pipeline surfaces. - API gateway: handles MCP, REST, SQL/live analytics, billing, and realtime metadata traffic with auth, rate limiting, and WAF. - pgvector provides vector similarity search in the same database; embeddings can be generated via the API. - Backups: daily encrypted snapshots and immutable object-locked exports to a separate region (7-day retention lock for ransomware protection, 30-day lifecycle). - Secrets stored in a managed secret store; database connection strings, payment credentials, and the TOTP encryption key are never committed. ## Tiers The product at nwdb.dev is the HTAP + pgvector + MCP database described above. ## Integrations & Quickstarts - Claude Code: https://nwdb.dev/docs/quickstart/claude-code — paste a 9-line JSON into ~/.claude/mcp.json - Cursor: https://nwdb.dev/docs/quickstart/cursor — Settings → MCP → Add new server - REST API: https://nwdb.dev/docs/quickstart/rest-api — X-API-Key + X-Workspace-ID headers - Cloudflare Workers / Pages: https://nwdb.dev/docs/quickstart/cloudflare — no client library required; browsers call NW DB directly with a publishable key (X-NWDB-Key) plus the signed-in user's JWT, with row-level security scoping the rows; Workers call with the secret key from Wrangler Secrets and must authenticate their own callers first - Realtime metadata: https://api.nwdb.dev/api/v1/realtime/events - API reference: https://api.nwdb.dev/api/v1/docs ## Get started 1.
